Are "Google Glasses" in your future?
While browsing around online yesterday, I stumbled across THE weirdest photo, which some of you may have already encountered since the April 4th release of Google's Project Glass. See below:
Naturally curious, I spent some time researching what in the world this woman had on her face. I was astounded by what I found. Apparently, we aren't bombarded with enough technology on a daily basis. Google has created a prototype that allows wearers of the 'Google Glasses' to schedule meetings, video chat and check the weather using only their voice, while the glasses project images right in their line of vision.
Here's what Google had to say regarding their latest innovation: "We think technology should work for you—to be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don’t. A group of us from Google[x] started Project Glass to build this kind of technology, one that helps you explore and share your world, putting you back in the moment. We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input. So we took a few design photos to show what this technology could look like and created a video to demonstrate what it might enable you to do. Please follow along as we share some of our ideas and stories. We’d love to hear yours, too. What would you like to see from Project Glass?" The YouTube video Project Glass, created by Google's Google X lab already has over 11 million views! Click
here to watch!
So, we're curious....is this something any of you would invest in?

"Shop Small" this Saturday, November 26th!
This Saturday, November 26th will mark the 2nd annual "Small Business
Saturday", a day created in 2010 by American Express Chairman and CEO Kenneth Chenault and NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
The goal is to direct consumers towards local, independently owned businesses instead of large chain-like retailers normally supported by Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, there were nearly
28 million small businesses in the United States in 2009.
Small Business Saturday has gained
popularity over the last year by word of mouth, internet &
television ads, and social networking sites such as Facebook (their FB
page has over 2 million "likes"), Google and Twitter.
So join in on the movement to "Shop Small" in support of Small Business Saturday this November 26th! Happy Thanksgiving and HAPPY SHOPPING :)

Phan is super fun! The makeup looks intense at first, but with her glasses on, it really brings out the beauty of her eyes!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!! : )

HeHeHe :)
While browsing around online I came across this funny joke that I think hits the nail on the head when it comes to aging...and men, for that matter! Enjoy!!
While on a road trip, an elderly
couple stopped at a roadside restaurant for lunch.
After finishing their meal, they left the restaurant, and resumed their trip.
When leaving, the elderly woman unknowingly left her glasses on the table, and
she didn't miss them until they had been driving for about forty minutes.
By then, to add to the aggravation, they had to travel quite a distance before
they could find a place to turn around, in order to return to the restaurant to
retrieve her glasses.
All the way back, the elderly husband became the classic grouchy old man;
He fussed and complained, and scolded his wife relentlessly during the entire
return drive. The more he chided her, the more agitated he became. He just
wouldn't let up for a single minute.
To her relief, they finally arrived at the restaurant.
As the woman got out of the car, and hurried inside to retrieve her glasses,
the old geezer yelled to her,
"While you're in there, you might as well get my hat and the credit
card!" :-D ...have a great Labor Day weekend!!

Tragedy at Indiana State Fair hits close to home
Just wanted to take a quick moment to lift up those who were impacted by the tragedy that took place this past Saturday at the Sugarland concert at the Indiana State Fair. 5 people were killed and more than 40 were injured when a 60-70 mph wind gust toppled the stage over into the crowd of horrified fans. We're so proud of our fellow Hoosiers that rushed to help those that were injured, putting their own lives in danger. THANK YOU!! May those individuals and families directly impacted find peace in this tragic time.
"Get Readers. Look Good."
Think it's attractive holding your menu or book at arms length and constantly squinting, just trying to make out the blurred mess in front of you? Here at Peepers, we aren't such big fans of the Shar Pei wrinkled face look. Take a peek at the following YouTube video.
Scenario look familiar?....Guy walks into bar. Guy can't read beer bottle. Guy can't read flyer in urinal. Guy can't read menu. Guy falls off bar stool (and not from drinking too much, either)!
A nice pair of Peepers Reading Glasses can save the day! Simply purchase, put on, and see the world through different eyes!...and quit making such a fool of yourself! Get Readers. Look Good
Geek Chic Is In!
These Days, everywhere you look you'll find people on the street, in the office, and even celebrities sporting "nerdy" eyeglass frames. These thick, usually horn-rimmed glasses that used to be a target for teasing back in grade school, now automatically shoot one straight to the top of the 'cool' list. VH1's The Fab Life has come up with a photo gallery of today's hottest celebs sporting some pretty fabulous specs. From Josh Hartnett (can we say YUM) to Sarah Silverman, it seems that everyone is jumping on this trend! Now, not to be left out, here at Peepers we've added our own line of geek-chic frames that we hope keep everyone looking stylish and put-together. And, with price points ranging from just $21 to $40, we offer an unbeatable value! Here are just a few of my favorites! Enjoy!
Have a great weekend!!! :)
REALLY super cool 'test' to check if you are in need of reading glasses for computer use
While browsing around online I came across this and thought it was one of the neatest things!! In the photo below, while sitting a normal distance from your computer screen: People with normal vision will see Albert Einstein (I do!!) People who are near-sighted will see Marilyn Monroe
If you don't see Albert Einstein while sitting at your computer, we recommend looking into a pair of cute reading glasses
to help improve your vision while working at your desk or computer area.

93-year old shares his secrets for 'aging gracefully'
Sometimes life seems to just fly by. The really important parts, of course. While the work day usually drags on, it's the fun stuff that is always gone too quickly: Watching our kids grow up, spending time with beloved friends and family, taking time to do what we desire and not what is necessary. This article from the Chicago Sun-Times' Beacon News really got me thinking about cherishing everything that comes my way. What an inspiration Floyd Hoffman is not only to these students, but to the world! Floyd, who lives in North Aurora, IL is 93 years young and doesn't see himself as 'old'. He speaks of his late wife (which brings a tear to my eye) and tells of how they met on a blind date. He enjoys spending time with his 2 children, 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. (WOW) "Hoffman, a World War II veteran, said he lives independently. He said he has three square meals a day and stays physically active through exercise. He does his own laundry and household chores, including mowing the lawn, and he keeps his mind alert by finishing a book a week of crossword puzzles. He goes to church on Sundays."
This weekend lets take some time out from our busy lives to just enjoy being. Why don't we turn off the television and the cell phones and go make some memories with the ones we love!! LIFE IS TOO SHORT :)
"At My Age..."
While on a recent day trip with my family, I came across a cute T-Shirt reading "At My Age I Need
Glasses
." It obviously stuck in my head, so I decided to share with you all. Here's an adorable iron-on design that would make a fun tote bag! This design can be found online at V S Rhinestone Designs

UV protection: Not only for your skin
With the official start to summer just behind us, thought we'd share just how important it is to protect your eyes from harmful UV Rays. We often remember to protect our skin by using sunscreens and sunblocks, but how often do we really think about protecting our eyes? Or our children's?
According to this article, "Keep an 'eye' on UV Rays" by Chad Douglas, "exposure to UV-A and UV-B radiation from the sun's rays can have both long- and short-term effects on the eyes and your vision." It's also extremely important to start getting your children and teens in the habit of wearing protective eyewear when outside. "Dr. Paul Tracy from SPECS says start your kids in sunglasses as early as you can get them to wear them."
You can shop in confidence with Peepers! Our entire line of reading sunglasses and bifocal sun readers offer total UV-A and UV-B protection.
So, the next time you're out soaking up some rays, take a minute and grab your favorite pair of shades-and don't forget the SPF-15!

Glasses in Fashion at Cannes 2011
The 64th annual Cannes Film Festival was just as star studded as ever this year. From Brad Pitt to Woody Allen, Johnny Depp to Geoffrey Rush, the stars were out and about setting eyewear trends this year! Heck, even Lady Gaga made a (ridiculous) bespectacled appearance. Check out our favorites!

Aging In the Eyes of Children

Everything is a little more humorous through the eyes of an innocent child. I found this article posted in Canada’s Chilliwack Times Online yesterday and got such a laugh. Some elementary school age children were asked what life would be like if they were 100 years old. So take a few minutes out of your day for a good laugh! Below are just a few-ENJOY!!
“When I’m 100 years old, I will still have my video games, a small car and go out for dinner. I will not be able to ride a bike, skateboard or scooter or have a radio. I’ll name my kids Bob and Harry and have a house with four rooms. I’ll wake up at 1:20 in the morning and go to bed at 7:30, and get breakfast at 1:30.”
Jett Thomas, Grade 3
“If I lasted to 100 years old, I would have a cane and a pair of glasses too. I would have grayish hair and I would barely even be able to walk.”
Cole Mayes, Grade 2
“When I’m 100 years old I will watch lots of football. I will not be able to jump or play Wii. My back will hurt a lot. I will get my robot servant to buy and get me food. I will eat a lot. It will be fun. I will make a book company called Orange Inc. I also want to be an astronaut. I will have a pet turtle and I’ll keep my pet Wags. It will be a lot of fun.”
Landon Johnston, Grade 2
“If I was 100 years old, I would quit dancing. I would have a dog. I would have a cane maybe. I would take walks and I would have sleeps and maybe, just maybe, I will have glasses, and my hair will turn gray. And I might eat tuna–yuck!”
Jordyn Zutter, Grade 3
CUTE! CUTE! CUTE!
What could be more adorable than a good looking woman in a great pair of sunglasses? A good looking woman AND her precious daughter in great sunglasses, that’s what!
Stylish and Eco-Friendly!!
Katie Couric is arguably one of the most famous faces wearing glasses these days. Try turning on the radio and not hearing about what career move she’ll be making next! Take a look at her wearing these fabulous gender neutral frames:
