"Shop Small" this Saturday, November 26th!
This Saturday, November 26th will mark the 2nd annual "Small Business
Saturday", a day created in 2010 by American Express Chairman and CEO Kenneth Chenault and NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
The goal is to direct consumers towards local, independently owned businesses instead of large chain-like retailers normally supported by Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, there were nearly
28 million small businesses in the United States in 2009.
Small Business Saturday has gained
popularity over the last year by word of mouth, internet &
television ads, and social networking sites such as Facebook (their FB
page has over 2 million "likes"), Google and Twitter.
So join in on the movement to "Shop Small" in support of Small Business Saturday this November 26th!
Happy Thanksgiving and HAPPY SHOPPING :)

Proper Glasses Care
Posted by Peepers on 11/2/2011
So, so many of us have gotten into the habit of wiping our glasses with the first thing we can find; the hem of our dirty t-shirt or the old tissue that we find lurking in the bottom of our handbag for example. When investing in a pair of glasses (whether a pair of ready-made readers or a more expensive Rx) adopt a few of these tips to ensure your glasses live the longest life possible!
1) Clean the lenses using warm water and
mild soap or detergent to remove oils and dirt from the lenses. An
eyeglass cleaner is also OK. Dry with a soft, clean cloth.
2) Never wipe plastic lenses when dry.
3) Wash the frames occasionally with soap and warm water.
4) When not wearing your glasses, keep them in their case. Never lay them with the lenses down, as this can cause scratching.
5) Avoid letting other people put on your glasses. This could disturb the alignment.
6) If you have trouble seeing even with
clean, aligned glasses, you may need a prescription change or have an
eye health problem in need of your optometristís attention.
